Position: Cloud Developer

Previous experience: Software Development, Cloud Development, DevOps Engineer.

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom – Hybrid (3 days at the office)

Employment type: Full-time regular (flexible working options available)

The job

As a Cloud Developer, you will be an integral part of our agile team, contributing to the development and optimisation of cloud technologies within our organisation. Your role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of cloud solutions that align with our business objectives. You’ll leverage your growing skills to foster a cloud-first mentality and support the implementation of scalable cloud-based solutions, whilst nurturing a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

In this role, you’ll assist in providing technical guidance in cloud development, promoting best practices in modern software design. Your participation in the development of cloud infrastructure will focus on scalability and security, ensuring our solutions are robust and reliable.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the alignment of cloud technology adoption with business objectives to improve operational efficiency.

  • Assist in providing technical guidance in cloud development, promoting best practices in software design.

  • Participate in the development of cloud deployment infrastructure, focusing on scalability and security.

  • Be an advocate for the Cloud Development Practice outwards to other teams, supporting their adoption across projects.

  • Engage and promote upskilling initiatives, staying updated with the latest cloud development skills and knowledge.

  • Remain informed about emerging cloud technologies and industry trends

  • Actively participate in training and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance the team’s cloud capabilities.

Ideal experience

  • Hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure as code development.

  • An understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts.

  • Competent in automating processes using scripting technologies such as PowerShell, Python, or similar.

  • Knowledge and experience of operational support, software development and deployment methodologies and principles.

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and related concepts such as Product-as-a-Service (PaaS).

  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and their application in cloud environments.

  • Demonstrable experience of cloud security principles, practices, and tools to ensure secure cloud deployments.

  • Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to optimise development workflows.

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, able to convey information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
