R&D Chemist – Personal Care Ingredients
Location: Milano Province (MI), Lombardia, Italy

Our client, a leading global manufacturer in the aroma and personal care sector, is seeking a passionate and innovative R&D Chemist to join their team. This role is key to shaping the personal care ingredient portfolio and transforming the product line at their UK-based site near Manchester. The position offers the opportunity to work on esters and other functional ingredients used in personal care applications, collaborating across international teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and evaluate functional ingredients for personal care applications.
*

Collaborate with Product Management to assess feasibility and market relevance.
*

Design and execute lab-scale synthesis and formulation trials.
*

Develop comprehensive technical documentation to support scale-up and commercialization.
*

Partner with UK site teams to ensure smooth scale-up and plant integration.
*

Support go-live activities, troubleshoot technical challenges, and demonstrate processes during pilot and commercial trials.
*

Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Italy, UK, and India, with frequent international travel for hands-on support and project coordination.

Qualifications & Experience:

Background in Organic Chemistry;
*

proven R&D experience in the raw materials personal care industry;
*

strong background in personal care ingredients;
*

hands-on lab expertise and experience scaling up from lab to plant
*

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in organic SYNTHESIS;
*

Expertise in esters (desirable) and functional ingredient chemistry;
*

knowledge of synthetic routes and process optimization.

Skills & Competencies:

Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
*

Fluency in Italian and English (spoken and written).
*

Proactive, solution-oriented, and detail-focused.
*

Willingness to travel internationally and work across global teams.
