Quantitative Developer in P&C Analytics

Your role will involve developing sophisticated models, implementing data-driven solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance our decision-making processes. 

You will contribute to revolutionize the underwriting plan tool, its reporting capabilities, and provide live analytics during the planning and reforecasting processes. 

You will leverage quantitative techniques to drive business success, develop insightful business analytics and trend analyses to closely monitor underwriting activities via different dashboards and metrics.

  • Contribute to consistent P&C Analytics projects
    • Contribute to the team efforts to transform the SBS business (corporate business) analytics consistent with Reinsurance and MGA analytics to establish consistent framework for P&C analytics.
    • Develop the code in Python or in R for P&C portfolio monitoring purpose and for risk assessment. 
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver customized solutions.
    • Develop solutions for data-driven business insights and advanced analytics (including machine learning) and support automatization initiatives in P&C. 

 

  • Application development and maintenance in PEAK (a proprietary SCOR – tool for Analytics)
    • Support the code development and code maintenance of existing applications in PEAK for Reinsurance and MGAs in supporting renewal and performance analyses.
    • Contribute to the analytics for strategic decisions related to P&C portfolios including coding of quantitative models to analyse reinsurance, corporate and syndicate underwriting, pricing, finance and risk exposure data.
    • Collaborate with actuaries, data scientists, and business analysts to refine models and algorithms.

 

  • Collaboration with the Data Engineering teams (DDPO) to
    • Find the best possible solution in Foundry to develop and maintain own data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming large datasets.
    • Optimize data storage in Databricks and retrieval mechanisms to ensure efficient access to relevant information.
    • Work closely with DDPO teams to integrate data sources and ensure data quality.

 

  • Support the development of the UW planning tool in Foundry, in particular 
    • Develop the code for the reporting toolkit provided for underwriters during the underwriting planning and reforecasting exercises.
    • Interpret business requirements and ensure that user feedback is reflected in the solution, 
    • Help testing and user feedback processes.

Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience in software development and data management
  • Sound working knowledge with R or Python and data visualization packages
  • Good understanding of data models and designs, developing and executing SQL scripts on complex data models
  • Excellent technical capabilities in statistical programming and understanding of actuarial concepts
  • Experience with Foundry and/or Databricks platforms is a plus
  • Experience in applying data science technologies in business is an asset

Required Education 

  • Master’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
