With us, you’ll shape a career that is truly forward-facing with many amazing opportunities and offerings to match.But there’s more work to be done – that’s why we need you to join us.Working in Portfolio Management team Polish PPAsDue to exciting growth and development, we are now searching for a Quantitative Analyst to join our Global Environmental Markets (GEM) department, which is the centre of expertise for both environmental certificate markets across the Statkraft Group and for PPAs of renewable energy developments in Poland.One of the best in class, our Portfolio Management team have been highly successful in the European markets and is committed to expanding further its tailor-made Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and long-term sales contracts to large end customers.Job DescriptionYour Role:You will be located in Amsterdam, though the role may involve some business travel to Poland and other European countries.As Quantitative Analyst, you will:

  • Help develop both a quantitative and fundamental view of the Polish power markets and related commodity markets.
  • Formulate and analyse new trading strategies, including hedging and optimisation strategies.
  • Provide analytical support with the scaling up of our portfolio of non-standard power contracts in the Polish markets, working effectively to value exotic derivative products and optimize the value of the portfolio.
  • Operate and drive the improvement of quantitative models and tools, used for our trading, hedging and optimisation activities.
  • Contribute to the team’s systematic usage of available datasets and integration of new data sources.
  • Collaborate with team members with regards to maintaining and expanding a robust code base and quality documentation.
  • Proactively engage yourself in discussions to exchange knowledge and ideas with fellow analysts, traders, portfolio managers, originators, internal and external developers.

QualificationsEssential:

  • Understanding of European power markets (or other energy markets) and risk management.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills gained, for example, through a university degree in a numerical discipline, e.g., mathematics, economics, engineering, science or statistics.
  • Relevant work experience involving working with data analysis, preferably in energy markets.
  • Programming skills ideally in Python, SQL, and/or similar languages, ideally with experience in quantitative packages.
  • Knowledge of financial derivatives including futures, forwards, options.
  • Flexible, accurate, with the capability to further develop the business.
  • Quick and eager to learn about new markets and topics.
  • Strong commercial mindset and high level of initiative and motivation.
  • Reliable team player with excellent communication skills in English.

Not mandatory but preferable:

  • Experience in valuation and modelling of structured, non-standard contracts in power markets
  • Experience in performing commercially oriented analysis of regulations pertaining to the energy markets.
  • Knowledge of Polish and/or Dutch.
