Compass Bloom MHST is an early intervention mental health and emotional wellbeing service covering Central & West Lancashire. The service delivers evidenced based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs.It is part of the MHST Programme, which has been commissioned following the Transforming Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Care Provision: A Green Paper (2017).Main duties of the jobYou will need to demonstrate in your application that you have a core MHP qualification relevant to mental health, alongside post graduate experience working with children and young people and an understanding of the principles and practice of CBT and clinical supervision.You will be knowledgeable and experienced in working with CYP with mental health needs; completing mental health assessments, providing practice supervision and support as well as providing specialist care directly to children and young people and familiesApplicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to network with other agencies as central to the role.You must possess a full driving licence and have access to your own transport.About usCompass is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults and you should share our commitment.   • Be a suitably qualified CYP Mental Health practitioner for example:
  • Qualified EMHP
  • CYP IAPT Qualification
  • Registered Social Worker
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse

Desirable

  • A further relevant degree qualification.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Youth Mental Health First Aid trained

ExperienceEssential

  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families and others.
  • Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties.
  • Experience of working with anxiety disorders.
  • Experience of working with affective (mood) disorders.
  • Experience of the delivery of specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families (e.g. CBT, solution focused brief therapy.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with children and their families in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working with children and their families in an education setting.
  • Experience of monitoring and recording outcome measures for
  • childrens emotional wellbeing.
  • Experience of navigating complex social systems and environments, who may have conflicting priories or agendas.
  • Experience of working with looked after children.
  • Experience of working with other vulnerable groups.

  • Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children.
  • Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with families.
  • Ability to conduct group parenting programmes.
  • Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within staff group.
  • Ability to conduct mental health assessments of children and young people.
  • Ability to make an assessment of risk and to record and communicate it appropriately.
  • Ability to take appropriate action to mitigate or manage risk.
  • Knowledge of educational environments.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues.
  • Knowledge of capacity and consent issues including Gillick competence
  • Full enhanced and current satisfactory DBS disclosure for the role.
  • Ability to personally manage a sensitive, traumatic and potentially emotionally distressing caseload.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to study further if required
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to travel to meet the requirements of the post.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
