KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare first drafts of media briefing notes for our lawyers and press releases (e.g. transactions releases, D&I and Responsible Business announcements), and secure/coordinate article commissions
  • Support the Italian PR team with day-to-day media activity for the firm’s practices, sectors, Diversity & Inclusion and Responsible Business
  • Take calls from the press and work with the PR team to respond to media queries
  • Assist with the distribution of press releases on all communication channels (media through our external PR agency, social media profiles, web site, internal newsletters) and other media materials
  • Support with arranging media meetings and diary coordination. Prepare briefing notes for spokespeople. Host/note take at journalist meetings when required.
  • Help maintain relationships with journalists at key titles, including national and legal press, as well as key practice area and sector titles as well as our relationship with PR colleagues in other law Firms in Italy we work with on joint press releases
  • Track journalist moves and ensure the press office team is alerted to developments regarding key media publications and contacts
  • Work alongside the M&BD team on the identification of stories and comment opportunities by monitoring the national and online media on a daily basis
  • Tracking our PR activities and produce monthly reports
  • Support with internal engagement activities, such as Town Halls, etc.
  • Draft content for firm’s key internal channels, such as newsletters, talking points etc.
  • Attend the weekly M&BD meeting to ensure an integrated approach to BD and PR
  • Help prepare submissions for awards entries, manage the table bookings process and provide guidance to attendees
  • Act as an ambassador of the firm, and of the communications team, internally as well as externally
  • Help to organise the annual office press party
  • Help identify potential client conflicts and protect client relationships
  • Work with the PR team to analyse, measure and optimise our PR activity

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Educated to degree level and/or with two or three years of relevant experience

ESSENTIAL

  • Two or three years of experience in PR or journalism
  • Experience of working with technical and/or complicated topics
  • Good communication skills, in terms of preparing first drafts of material for media and communicating effectively with internal stakeholders and press
  • Effective presentation skills – the candidate will need to be persuasive in dealings with partners and the media
  • A proactive self-starter and an avid consumer of news
  • A strong interest in business issues with the ability to identify PR opportunities
  • A business-to-business, rather than consumer, background
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.

DESIRED

  • Experience of working in a law firm or other professional services environment
  • Experience working in or with a PR agency
  • International experience
  • Social media experience
  • Multimedia experience to support the wider team with video communication

Working hours

Full time position Monday to Friday with an hybrid formula.

Longer working hours commensurate with deadlines, responsibilities and demands of the role will be expected as appropriate.

Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.
