Exciting Opportunity: Psychology Graduate Teaching AssistantsAre you a recent Psychology graduate with a passion for education and a desire to support the learning and development of young people? Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can utilise your knowledge and skills in a dynamic school environment? We are seeking enthusiastic Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistants to join an Ofsted good secondary school in Stockport on a full-time basis. This fantastic opportunity is available to start in September and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance and school requirements.Role Overview:As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students, working closely with teaching staff to promote positive behaviour, enhance academic progress, and support the emotional well-being of students. Your key responsibilities will include:Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities, providing one-to-one support to students, and facilitating group discussions to promote understanding and application of psychological concepts across various subjects.SEN Support: Providing targeted support to students with special educational needs (SEN), including those with autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities, to ensure their individual needs are met and that they are fully included in classroom activities.Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour management strategies within the classroom, promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and assisting with the management of challenging behaviour to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.Mental Health Support: Supporting the emotional well-being of students by providing a listening ear, offering guidance and reassurance, and signposting to appropriate support services where necessary, in collaboration with the school’s pastoral team.

Data Analysis: Assisting teaching staff in collecting and analysing data related to student progress and behaviour, contributing to the identification of trends and areas for improvement, and supporting the development of personalised intervention plans.Resource Development: Collaborating with teaching staff to develop and adapt teaching resources and materials to suit the needs of individual students, including visual aids, interactive activities, and differentiated worksheets.Requirements:
  • A degree qualification in Psychology or a related field, with a strong academic background and a genuine interest in education and child development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, and communicate complex concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Empathy, resilience, and a non-judgmental approach, with the ability to support students with diverse needs and backgrounds, including those experiencing mental health challenges or behavioural difficulties.
  • Adaptability, creativity, and a proactive attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, take initiative, and respond effectively to the evolving needs of students and the school community.
