Job Opportunity: Psychology Graduate Teaching AssistantTeaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Bramhall, Stockport. This full-time position starts ASAP and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become a permanent role based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.Role Overview:As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support students and teachers in fostering a positive and effective learning environment. Your background in psychology will be invaluable in understanding and addressing the diverse needs of students, particularly those requiring additional emotional and behavioral support. You will work closely with the school’s SENCO, teachers, and other support staff to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.Key Responsibilities:Classroom Support:

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, providing individual and group support to students.
  • Help prepare and organize teaching materials and resources, ensuring they are accessible and tailored to students’ needs.
  • Support students in understanding and completing their work, offering guidance and encouragement as needed.

Student Support:

  • Provide targeted support to students who require additional help with their studies, both academically and emotionally.
  • Implement intervention strategies to help students improve their academic performance and well-being.
  • Conduct small group and one-on-one sessions to address specific educational and emotional needs.

Assessment and Feedback:

  • Monitor and record students’ progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and other relevant staff.
  • Assist in assessing students’ work, offering constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.
  • Support the preparation of reports and documentation related to students’ progress and development.

Behavior and Emotional Support:

  • Assist in managing classroom behavior, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to support students in developing self-discipline and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Provide emotional support to students, helping them develop coping strategies and resilience.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on students’ progress and well-being.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in education support.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Experience working with secondary school students is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to working with young people.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the varying needs of the students and the school.
