Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Bramhall, StockportTeaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Bramhall, Stockport, as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time role is set to start in October and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay ranging from £419.25 to £500.Role Overview:As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the school’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) department and broader pastoral team. Your knowledge of psychology will be invaluable in understanding and addressing the diverse needs of students, particularly those who may require additional emotional, behavioral, or academic support.Key Responsibilities:Student Support: Work closely with students who have special educational needs, including those with learning difficulties, behavioral challenges, or mental health issues. Your role will involve helping these students engage fully in their education and achieve their personal and academic goals.One-on-One Mentoring: Provide tailored support to individual students, using your understanding of psychological principles to help them overcome barriers to learning. This might include strategies to manage anxiety, improve focus, or develop social skills.Group Work: Assist in delivering small group sessions aimed at improving students’ social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH). These sessions may cover topics such as resilience, coping strategies, or peer relationships, and are designed to foster a positive school experience.Classroom Assistance: Support teachers in managing the classroom environment, particularly in ensuring that students with additional needs are included and supported during lessons. This may involve helping to differentiate lesson materials or providing in-class support to students.Behavioral Support: Work alongside the school’s pastoral team to implement behavior management strategies. This includes monitoring student behavior, providing feedback, and developing individual behavior plans in collaboration with teachers and parents.Resource Development: Assist in creating and adapting educational materials that cater to the diverse needs of students. Your input will help ensure that all students have access to the resources they need to succeed.Administrative Tasks: Support the SEN department with administrative duties, such as maintaining accurate records of student progress, preparing reports, and coordinating with external agencies when necessary.Extracurricular Involvement: Participate in the school’s extracurricular activities, particularly those that promote mental well-being or social development.
