We are seeking a full-time Property Maintenance Apprentice to join Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, a department of the University of Cambridge. It is dedicated to state-of-the-art research into the causes of cancer, developing new treatments and bringing them to clinic to benefit cancer patients. Situated adjacent to Addenbrookes Hospital, the Institute is comprised of 16,500 m2 located over 7 floors, which includes 5 research laboratory floors, a plant room floor and roof space for plant, along with a separate Energy Centre building. We host 500 members of staff throughout the Institute.This is an exciting opportunity to engage in the Property Services department of the Institute. The role holder will undertake training to develop their skills to support the Institute’s research, teaching, and infrastructure.The apprenticeship is for a fixed term of 24 months. You will study to complete a Property Maintenance Operative Level 2 qualification using the skills and knowledge that you have built up to complete your projects and assignments. The training provider (Cambridge Regional College) will conduct regular workplace visits from your Assessor.About you:-Enthusiasm for building fabric, mechanical and electrical systems.-Education to at least GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English.Please note: Candidates that do not have the GCSE requirements would need to complete English and Maths during their apprenticeship, as these qualifications form a mandatory part of all apprenticeships and must be completed before an apprentice can pass through gateway.-Good organisation and communication skills – both verbal and written.-Good team working skills, flexible and able to adapt to change.-Good problem solving and planning skills.-Able to work well under pressure and own initiative.-Willing to learn and take responsibility for your own development.All applications for this vacancy are being handled by the training provider for this apprenticeship, Cambridge Regional College.
