  • The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) are looking for Project Manager Environment or Chemicals to join the Manufacturing team.
  • He/she will be in charge of Technical Committees in various fields, e.g., construction, mining and chemicals (plastics, fertilizing products, explosives, pyrotechnics), and thus supporting the development of relevant documents.
  • Interacting with CEN and CENELEC Members’ representatives and experts from different backgrounds and industries.
  • Furthermore he/she will interface with the European Commission for the topics under their responsibilities and represent CEN and CENELEC in relevant meetings whenever required.

The five main areas of activities are the following.1. Standardization Rules Advisor

  • Enforces the correct implementation of the CEN and CENELEC rules for drafting standards by:
  • raising awareness and encourage their application,
  • leading training and webinars on the rules and new developments in the standards development process,
  • advising on the procedural aspects including sectoral guidance documents
  • Performs quality assessments of CEN and CENELEC Harmonised Standards based on predefined criteria and timeline in coordination with the Harmonised Standards Team.
  • Proposes solutions to diverse issues (incl. recommendations to relevant governing bodies) so as to progress projects:
  • analysing the background of the case,
  • fact finding and
  • cross-checking sources.
  • Keeps abreast of the technical and regulatory activities to support the Technical Bodies in their sectors.

2. Sectoral Representative

  • Represents CEN and CENELEC interests in meetings as an ambassador dealing with sectoral topics in the assigned portfolio to facilitate discussions and engage with stakeholders;
  • Develops essential relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (colleagues, members and partner organizations of CEN and CENELEC, Technical Committees, standardization organisations at regional and global level and European institutions …);
  • Prepares position papers and briefings to profile standardization in the sector.
  • Prepares communication materials: articles, videos, podcasts, etc.
  • Single point of contact for the sector
  • Creating connections between the different roles and activities provided by CCMC for data management, editorial processes, review of deliverables, RTD coordination, finance and IT projects.
  • Answer external questions on various aspects: standardization processes and standardization supporting conformity assessment procedure, standards content, commercial aspects, conditions to become liaison organization, etc.

3.Continuous Improvement Leader

  • Examines and questions the existing rules, procedures and best practices proactively suggesting solutions for improvement;
  • Contributes to the digital transformation of the standards development process: assessing IT applications, designing business requirements, acting as a product owner for specific projects, etc.

4. Administration

  • Acts as Secretary for CEN and CENELEC advisory groups of governance bodies
  • Actively contributes to maintaining data quality and reliability (including data entry);
  • Gathers and coordinates all elements necessary for documenting grant applications for sectorial projects.

5. Other responsibilities

  • Bringing potential issues to the attention of one’s superior;
  • Maintaining up-to-date information flow and knowledge on organizational activities and ongoing projects;
  • Supporting the update of the Quality Management System for the relevant documentation (procedures, user manuals, forms, etc.);
  • Being actively involved in the development of improvement schemes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

  • You will report directly to Team Account Manager Manufacturing
  • You will be part of a team of 4 project managers
  • They appreciate collaborating within a multicultural group in a vibrant environment, which contributes to positive mindset of all.
  • Master’s degree in engineering (e.g., environment, chemistry, …), business administration, law or equivalent.
  • Policy and/or technical expertise related to various fields, e.g., construction products, mining or chemicals. Knowledge on the Construction Products Regulation would be a strong asset for the ideal candidate.
  • Relevant professional experience in the EU environment is a plus.
  • Awareness of EU institutions and regulatory processes or willingness to learn about them.
  • Very good spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work against tight deadlines, being structured and organized.
  • A high capability for prioritization and flexibility, adapting to urgencies,
  • Ability to understand and act according to standardization rules,
  • Interest to follow the political, legislative and technical developments (e.g., construction and chemicals) ;
  • Ability to juggle between political and strategic exchanges and more technical discussions,
  • Ability to present complex matters in a clear and concise way,
  • Ability to undertake related administrative tasks.
