Under the overall supervision of the Director, Coordinating Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission for Italy and Malta, the technical advice of the Integration Specialist and the direct supervision of the Labour Exploitation Expert and Project Manager, the incumbents will be responsible for supporting the project manager in the coordination of the activities of the Mission aimed at fighting migrant workers labour exploitation and promote ethical recruitment in Italy.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Support the project manager in the overall implementation of the activities envisaged in the framework of the Integration Unit projects to prevent and contrast migrant workers labour exploitation and promote fair and ethical recruitment;
  • Provide continuous guidance to and assist in monitoring the work of project assistants and cultural mediators deployed at local level with the aim of reinforcing awareness raising and identification of victims of labour exploitation among the communities of disadvantaged migrants;
  • Monitor the efficient implementation of project activities in line with project objectives and indicators;
  • Assist the Project Manager to develop and organize trainings for partners and IOM staff on national laws and administrative procedures connected to unfair recruitment, irregular work, labour exploitation, modern slavery, and on the mechanisms envisaged by the law for the protection of the victims;
  • Assist the Project Manager in liaising with institutional, NGOs and private sector actors involved in the governance of national and local systems for the protection and integration of migrant victims of labour exploitation;
  • Assist the Project Manager with the preparation of all relevant reporting documentation related to the project;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • ​​Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in migrants’ assistance and particularly the field of the prevention of migrants’ labour exploitation;
  • Previous experience with international organizations.

Skills

  • ​​Knowledge of the Italian Immigration Act with specific reference to the protection of victims of labour exploitation.
  • Knowledge of the phenomenon of migrants illegal hiring and exploitation in Italy
  • Driving license is required

Languages

  • Fluency in ​Italian​ and English is required (oral and written);
