This position is located in the Strategic Planning and Interagency Affairs Unit (SPIA), Public Affairs and Policy Support Branch (PAB), Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs (DPA) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, Austria. The incumbent will wok under the direct supervision of the Chief and/or Officer-in-Charge of the Unit. For more information on UNODC, please visit www.unodc.org.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will perform the following specific tasks: • Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of outcomes and outputs in relevant programme/s; monitor and analyze programme/project development and implementation as it relates to interagency initiatives; review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; identify and track follow-up actions. • Support the development, monitoring and implementation of United Nations interagency initiatives and undertake follow-up actions. • Facilitate UNODC engagement with interagency mechanisms and special initiatives, and suggest ways to strengthen partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders at the national, regional and global levels. • Provide support in the development of the UNODC strategic framework with a focus on assisting in servicing the relevant intergovernmental process. • Prepare various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports, briefing notes and studies, inputs to publications, etc. • Provide substantive support to consultative and other meetings, especially inter-divisional meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. • Undertake outreach activities; conduct training workshops, seminars, etc.; make presentations on assigned topics/activities. • Coordinate activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepare related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.). • Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Education

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, development management, social sciences or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management and interagency affairs in addressing crime, drugs, corruption and terrorism in an international context is required. Work experience in coordinating and managing relations and partnerships between international organizations is required. Work experience in international programme development and reporting in the context of the mandate areas of UNODC is required. Work experience in using Enterprise Resource Planning systems for project management, specifically for monitoring and reporting, is desirable. Experience in data analytics, including analysing qualitative and quantitative data is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

This position is temporarily available until 31 December 2024. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
