The Department of Clinical Medicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Professor in Clinical Psychology with a specific focus on eating disorders. This is a full time position for a duration of five years, starting on 1 January 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.As a professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, you will be part of what is probably the largest health science research department in Denmark. Our clinical research covers all the medical specialties and takes place in close collaboration with the university hospital and the regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. The department has overall responsibility for the Master’s degree programs in medicine and in molecular medicine. At the department, we have approx. 425 academic employees and an equal number of PhD students cooperating across disciplines. You can read more about the department and about the faculty . As a professor, you will be working at Aarhus University Hospital, Psychiatry (AUHP). At AUHP, the number of patients with eating disorders is approximately 850 per year, with half being children/adolescents and half being adult patients. There are 387 psychologists employed in the Region’s psychiatric departments, including 124 in child and adolescent psychiatry. Altogether, more than 3,000 professionals are employed in psychiatry. The researchers consist of psychologists, psychiatrists, and other professionals.Your job responsibilities
As a professor in clinical psychology with a focus on eating disorders, you will have joint responsibility for the development of the department’s research and teaching environment. You will contribute to the implementation of the faculty’s and Department’s overall research strategies. You are expected to contribute – both independently and in collaboration with others – to the development of the department by leading research of high international quality and ensuring a high academic and didactic standard in teaching. Qua your excellent collaborative skills and broad academic network, you will contribute to the national and international academic profiles of both Aarhus University and AUHP. The research area of eating disorders is expected to span child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry.Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Conducting research of high international quality, including publishing in top international journals and communicating your research within national and international academic networks.
  • Teaching, supervising and examination of students.
  • Supporting research-based practice in the field of eating disorders at AUHP, including teaching and supervising clinicians,, especially other psychologists and psychiatrists.
  • Supervising PhD students and contributing to the development of the faculty’s PhD courses.
  • Contributing to the funding of your own research group with the help of external research funding.
  • Participating in assessment and committee work at Aarhus University.
  • Engaging in research-based collaboration with private and public-sector stakeholders, as well as providing research-based consultancy.
  • Disseminating your research to the broader community.

You will report to the head of the research department for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Professor and Chair Per Hove Thomsen.Your competencesYou have an excellent track record in eating disorder research and have established yourself as a prominent researcher. You possess solid research and teaching qualifications at a high international level. You have broad international cooperative partnerships and extensive experience in research collaborations with private and public-sector stakeholders. You also have a documented ability to attract significant competitive research funding from national and international funding bodies. Furthermore, you possess solid experience in clinical psychiatry research, bridging research and clinical practice.As a person, you are a helpful and motivational leader who inspires other researchers and builds trusting relationships with students, colleagues and partners. As a lecturer, you communicate the newest and relevant knowledge in a committed, clear, and comprehensible manner. As a supervisor, you are competent, inspiring, supportive, and responsible.You are ready to take co-responsibility for the development of the department’s research and education at the highest international level and for ensuring a positive work environment. You naturally involve yourself in interdisciplinary collaboration at the departmental, faculty, and university levels, as well as nationally and internationally.
