Within our Process Discipline, we are looking for a Safety & Process Engineer for industrial plants, primarily in the Pharma sector.

This is a role which combines the responsibilities of a Safety Engineer with typical process engineering tasks.

You will help ensure safety and environmental compliance while also contributing to process design activities under the guidance of senior engineers and project leads.

Key HSE Responsibilities:

• Daily support to the Project Team to define health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirement;
• Coordinate and conduct Risk assessments and HSE reviews during the design phase, e.g. HAZID, HAZOP (knowledge of SIL analysis will be a plus) and follow up of the identified corrective actions, ensuring compliance with international applicable norms (PED, Machinery Directive, ATEX…), Industry standards and Client’s procedures;
• Conduct HSE surveys in Client facilities;
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate HSE considerations into design and Project execution;
• Assist in Hazardous Area Classification according to ATEX Directive;
• Stay updated with HSE legislation and best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement;
• Deliver or support HSE training sessions and promote safety awareness.

Process Design Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Clients and Senior Engineers to define design criteria and user requirements;
• Prepare process design documents such as PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, and functional descriptions;
• Perform process calculations, simulations, and equipment sizing;
• Support technical evaluations and vendor bid tabulations for equipment packages;
• Participate in follow-up with equipment suppliers and provide engineering support during construction phases.

Here’s what you’ll need

• 3+ years of experience in HSE or Process Engineering within engineering or specialized companies;
• Knowledge of safety and environmental design standards and regulations;
• Experience with HAZID/HAZOP workshops and process design tasks;
• Understanding of safety distances, ergonomics, fire & gas systems, and process simulation;
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills;
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities;
• Fluency in English and Italian (French or German is a plus);
• Willingness to travel within Italy and Europe.
