Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer

This is a fantastic opportunity to join my client, a market-leading, eco-conscious Multidisciplinary Consultancy, dedicated to broadening their geographical reach by opening a new office location in bonnie Scotland. Renowned for lending their expertise to a diverse range of projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are currently on the lookout for a driven, talented Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design, who is willing to win, manage, and successfully deliver a diverse range of challenging projects across the region. You will have a genuine hand in establishing and leading a team of design professionals, based near the exciting, vibrant city of Glasgow.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

* Taking the lead on a number of high-profile infrastructure projects and developments
* Managing the day-to-day running of projects, from inception through to successful delivery and implementation
* Providing mentorship and support to colleagues as they progress within the company, overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
* Establishing and maintaining important professional relationships with clients and other stakeholders
* Preparing, checking, and submitting technical documents, including reports, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and more
* Subscribing to and promoting company policies, procedures, and best practice at all times
* Enforcing the appropriate health and safety standards and regulations
* Contributing to the company’s business development strategies, acting as a trusted representative at client meetings, site visits, and more

Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

* A First Degree in Civil Engineering
* Possess Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Body (e.g., ICE)
* Extensive experience in an infrastructure design role, within a UK consultancy or Local Authority
* Demonstrable experience of working with infrastructure (particularly drainage and highways), housing developments, and energy projects
* Experience of working on earthworks design and drainage network modelling
* Proficient in the use of various software packages (to include Civils 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, etc.)
* Considerable experience of writing, checking, and amending reports and other technical documents for submission
* Experience of managing people and projects within the industry
* Prior experience of managing client and stakeholder relations, influencing Business Development (BD) activity
* Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Hold a full, valid UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

* A Higher Degree in Civil Engineering (or similar, relevant field)
* Experience of preparing Flood Risk Assessments and/or Transport Assessments
* Experience of working in a public-facing role
