Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer

This is a brilliant opportunity to join my client, an industry-leading, trusted Multidisciplinary Consultancy, dedicated to broadening their geographical reach by establishing a new office location in Scotland. Renowned for lending their expertise to a diverse range of projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are currently on the lookout for a driven, talented Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design who is willing to win, manage, and successfully deliver a number of challenging projects. You will have a hand in building and leading a newly-established team of design engineers, based near the scenic, green city of Dunfermline.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

* Delivering a number of exciting projects and developments
* Leading the day-to-day running of engineering projects, including budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, and successful delivery/implementation
* Mentoring and supporting colleagues throughout their careers, overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
* Managing important professional relations with clients and other stakeholders, across the public and private sectors
* Preparing, checking, and submitting technical documents, including reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and method statements
* Enforcing company policies, procedures, and best practice
* Upholding the appropriate health and safety standards at all times
* Contributing to the company’s business development strategies, acting as a trusted representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.

Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

* A UK Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
* Possess Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Body (e.g., ICE)
* Extensive experience of working in a design capacity, within a UK-based consultancy setting
* Demonstrable experience of working with infrastructure (particularly drainage and highways), housing developments, and energy projects
* Experience of earthworks design and drainage network modelling
* Proficient in the use of various software packages (including Civils 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, etc.)
* Considerable experience of writing, checking, and amending reports for submission
* Prior experience of leading both projects and people within the sector
* Experience of managing client and stakeholder relations
* Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Hold a full, valid UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

* A UK Master’s Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering (or similar, relevant discipline)
* Experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments
* Experience of preparing Transport Assessments
* Experience of working in a public-facing role
