Aligned to IB’s educational philosophy, curriculum developers plan, manage and collaborate on the continuous review of one or more of the four IB programmes. Specifically, the curriculum review and development process ensure the programmes are future-focused and adaptable.The curriculum developer will lead and/or support a variety of curriculum design projects associated with one or more of the four IB programmes. Projects may include programme- or subject -specific curriculum reviews, and cross-programme, enterprise-wide initiatives such as the 16+ programme review, or explorations into trends in education (for example focusing on AI and the digital classroom).Role and responsibilitiesThe primary/ elementary curriculum developer will:
A. Provide agile disciplinary, curriculum and assessment design and/or content development expertise .
B. Incorporate feedback on writing from a wide range of perspectives and keep to a deadline
C. Stay informed to offer up-to-date insights into school practices and educational trends.
D. Lead, support and collaborate on projects that deliver high-quality, compelling and meaningful resources to IB schools, educators and students.
E. Develop and contribute to innovative learning and teaching perspectives and practices that support an IB education.
F. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
G. Exercise thought-leadership through conference presentations, writing articles, and engaging in online and offline discussions on learning and teaching issues that pertain to the IB.About youKnowledge and ExperienceEssential

  • Experience in Mathematics education
  • Expertise with primary / elementary discipline-based standards, frameworks and/or competencies.
  • Relevant educator experience that may consist of one or more of the following: teaching, coordination, curriculum and/or assessment design and development, examining or professional development.
  • Good understanding of best practices, emerging developments and innovations in teaching, learning, culturally responsive education, grading for equity and assessment practices.
  • Insight into the needs, interests and contexts of educators and students ages 3-19.
  • Experience in taking on a variety of roles in a range of collaborative projects.
  • Experience in participating in critical conversations about curriculum development.

Desirable

  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.

  • A user-centred and evidence-based approach to managing projects, including the ability to plan, budget and lead projects that inspire active participation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Delivery of agreed project outcomes according to defined budgets, parameters and timelines.
  • The ability to adopt effective change management for projects, including the timely sharing of work for review and approval at defined stages.
  • A commitment to the inclusion and integration of diverse communities, perspectives and experiences in projects and resource development.

Desirable

  • Strong understanding and frequent user of academic research, with strong qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing, monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of new programmes and/or defined projects.
  • Competence in the use of project management tools, platforms and/or approaches.

Communication and technical skillsEssential

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to create, write and present clear and compelling information for a variety of audiences, platforms and purposes.
  • The ability to provide and receive timely, actionable and professional feedback to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Competence using standard office software.

Desirable

  • Proficiency in a language other than English, for instance: French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and others
  • Competence in the use of digital tools and platforms relevant to the educational context.
