Job Description Summary The preliminary design cycles engineer is an exciting opportunity to invent the future of flight developing new propulsion system architectures cycles and technologies. The role is expected to execute activities relative to preliminary cycle design and evaluation of its performance. The Preliminary Design Engineer will join the Preliminary Design & Hybrid-electric team within the Advanced Technology Operations section.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesExecute aerothermal cycle design for sizing of propulsion systems for concept and product applications, using engine performance modelling tools, such as NPSS and other numerical simulation softwareDevelop architecture feasibility studies and design exploration studies to define system configuration and modules arrangementDefine the preliminary sizing of turbomachinery modules and evaluate gas turbine configuration trades interfacing with different disciplinesDevelop powerplant cycles for novel, hybrid electric and next generation aircraft applications contributing to the creation of new models and methods to implement themContribute to preliminary design activities for engine and aircraft integration studiesContribute to the system integration activities of engine systems and module components, working cross-functionally with Controls, Systems, Aero, thermal and Mechanical engineers to perform preliminary design studiesSupport internal and external customer data requestsEnsure proper documentation of all workQualifications/RequirementsMaster Degree from an accredited University, aeronautical or mechanical preferredExperience on numerical methods for performance analysis and aerothermal cycles design for sizing of propulsion systemsExperience on systems engineering and/or a variety of technical disciplines related to propulsionUnderstanding of whole engine architecture trades impact into final system performance and aircraft capabilitiesExperience with programming languagesFamiliarity with Research and Technology development processesFluency in english and italianWork VISA, according to local regulation, is requiredDesired CharacteristicsExperience with different gas turbine engines, internal modules and disciplines relatedDevelopment of physics-based models for new concepts and technologiesAircraft integration and aircraft requirements/performance experiencePassionate about Aviation products and innovationCan do attitude capable to manage uncertainty and changing environmentsExperience working with cross-functional teams in a multinational environmentWhat we offerSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes remote work and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
