Job description

Offer DescriptionThe PhD position will be carried out in the Limburg Lab at the University of Barcelona, a young ambitious group with a friendly atmosphere. We offer a great research environment in which you will be able to develop yourself as a young researcher under guidance of a young, but experienced, supervisor. More information about the research group can be found on . The PhD will be carried out in the framework of the Organic Chemistry Doctoral School ( ), which allows for scientific training, regular seminars of world-renowned chemists, and an external progress monitoring system to ensure the highest quality of the doctoral project. The position deals with the multistep synthesis of organic compounds and afterwards the study of their properties and application within the SYNAPS project. The PhD student will research new autocatalytic and oscillatory reactions, using light as a driving force and mediator. Development of light-driven oscillations will have great impact on the development of new chemistry-driven signalling, computation, and mimicking biological function. The reactions will be analysed with in situ UV-vis spectroscopy, either steady-state of transient, IR-spectroscopy and NMR. Some organic synthesis will be performed to produce the reaction components. The PhD student will also learn to design scripts to model the reaction network in order to understand the complex reactivity.Gross salary per year: 17.823,96 €.Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Chemistry Education Level Master Degree or equivalentSkills/QualificationsHold a MSc in Chemistry and fulfil the requirements to be admitted into the Organic Chemistry PhD program at the Universitat de Barcelona. For more information:Specific Requirements
