Duration: 01/07/2024 to 31/12/2024 (with possibility of extension)Organizational ContextUNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a full-time internship with the Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Section of the Private Sector Partnerships Service under the Division of External Relations at UNHCR Copenhagen.Established in December 1950, UNHCR is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for asylum seekers, refugees, returnees, internally displaced communities and stateless people. Every year, millions of men, women and children are forced to flee their homes to escape conflict and persecution. UNHCR currently operates in over 130 countries, using its long expertise to protect and care for millions of people.The internship will be within UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP), which sits within the Department of External Relations (DER). The Private Sector Partnerships Services (PSP) operates from Copenhagen, the extended arm of UNHCR’s Headquarters, with global coverage through Regional Managers, National PSP Offices and National Partners. The role of Private Sector Partnerships is to raise funds from the private sector, including corporations, foundations, high net worth individuals, and individual donors.PSP’s Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) Section, under PSP, develops and strengthens long-term partnerships with corporations, foundations, and private philanthropists (“PPH donors”). The primary role of PPH colleagues is to seek various forms of support from such donors: securing funding for UNHCR programs and projects is considered priority, but the work also includes leveraging the capacities of these relationships beyond funding, to build long-lasting holistic partnerships bringing various forms of support to UNHCR and to persons of concern, such as advocacy, visibility, expertise, innovation, and public engagement.The PositionUnder the direct supervision of the Senior Strategic Planning and Coordination Officer, the incumbent will be provided with close guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elements of supervision. With the support of a comprehensive induction process, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team and will become familiar with the Private Partnership and Philanthropy dynamics in UNHCR . The Intern will be joining the Strategic Planning and Coordination unit. The multifunctional team reports directly to the Chief of the PPH section and covers 4 areas:
1. PPH Strategic Planning and resource allocation
2. Coordination of UHCR attendance to High-level events
3. Data Analysis on PPH partnerships
4. Unit’s finance and budget
5. Digital infrastructure and capacity building solutionsThe intern will work closely with the Assistant Data Analytics Officer (PPH) whose scope is to maximize fundraising and partnerships efforts of PPH colleagues globally by delivering the relevant quantitative and qualitative data, research and insights required to plan effectively for partnerships and philanthropy, to ensure PPH colleagues can tap into opportunities most likely to generate growth, and to establish, cultivate, steward, and retain strategic, multimillion dollar relationships with private sector entities. Since the Strategic Planning and Coordination unit collaborates with multiple teams at the HQ, regional, and county level, the intern will be exposed to PPH operational and financial data, PPH fundraising business models, and liaising with a variety of internal stakeholders to support cross-cutting data and digital infrastructure improvements projects. The intern will have first-hand involvement in conducting bespoke research or analysis and put analysis into PowerPoints, improving PPH’s partnership data quality, reviewing current tools and solutions, implementing change management efforts around PPH analytics, and other activities that ultimately will have a positive direct impact on the network of PPH fundraisers in accomplish PSP’s goals and UNHCR’s mission and vision.Duties and responsibilitiesData, Tools, and Analysis

Location and ConditionsThe successful candidate will be based with the PPH team at UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark.Depending on the circumstances, there is a possibility for the successful candidate to perform certain duties remotely and/or from at home.The internship is for six months, with the possibility of extension to eight months, and the expected start date is 1 July 2024. This is a full-time role with working hours starting from 8.30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week) with the possibility of working part-time at 50% for the first three months of the internship.Shortlisted candidates might be required to sit for a written test. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. No late applications will be accepted.For non-EU candidates, D-visa needs to be obtained prior to traveling to Denmark which could takes up to 8 weeks. The office will provide assistance on visa-related issues.Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.Unless provided or paid by their sponsoring entities, UNHCR reimburses interns’ travel costs to/from the duty station.The UNHCR workforce consists of many diverse nationalities, cultures, languages and opinions.
