Offer DescriptionThe objectives of this postdoctoral work are to modify and determine the photoelectrochemical properties of electrodes incorporating ternary silicides SixTiyNiz as catalysts and deposited on silicon substrates using photoelectrochemical techniques. More specifically, the composition/morphology of the ternary silicide and the structuring of photoelectrodes will be examined and optimized in order to design a robust and low-cost photoelectrochemical cell for efficient hydrogen production from electrolytic water splitting, either in acid or alkaline conditions. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with the partner laboratories (CINaM-Marseille-preparation of Si/SixTiyNiz photoelectrodes, Matériaux Divisés Réactivité Electrochimie, MADIREL-Marseille-composition of SixTiyNiz and transfer onto other semiconductors and Unité de catalyse et Chimie du solide, UCCS-Lille-in operando spectroscopic techniques) and will benefit from the equipment (modification, surface characterization techniques and electrochemistry) and the skills of the ISCR.Main tasks:

– Writing of publicationsThe Institute of Chemical Sciences of Rennes (ISCR-UMR6226) is a Joint Research Unit associating the CNRS, the University of Rennes, the ENSCR and the INSA. This institute results from the merging of all the academic forces in chemistry on the site of Rennes. It brings together more than 290 permanent staff with a total of nearly 500 people in 8 teams. The researcher will be recruited in the MaCSE team and will work under the supervision of Bruno Fabre. This project will be carried out in collaboration with the partners of the EFFICAWAT project.
