Then this could be the ideal career option for you!We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and analyzing innovative approaches from various European cities to enhance inclusive urban green governance among municipalities, civil society, and local residents. The responsibilities include evaluating governance approaches in an urban Living Lab in the Netherlands and collaborating with other Living Labs across Europe.This position also offers opportunities for personal scientific growth by contributing to the advancement of urban green governance research. The successful candidate will be involved in writing proposals and publishing new and existing research at the intersection of sustainable transformations, grassroots and stewardship practices, and environmental justice.If you are passionate about making a meaningful contribution to urban green governance and are eager to be part of a dynamic, collaborative team, we encourage you to apply.Your duties and responsibilities include:

  • analyze inclusive governance in different European contexts;
  • develop collaborations with the international team and with city officials;
  • evaluate the environment justice impact of implemented governance approaches;
  • contribute to writing scientific proposals;
  • publish scientific papers.

The preferred starting date is January 1st 2025.RequirementsYou have strong interpersonal and communicative skills both with practitioners as with scientific peers, you like to contribute to transformative change, scientifically as well as practically. You are a team player, and you have good writing skills and enjoy publishing in peer-reviewed journals.You also possess:

  • a PhD in social or environmental sciences;
  • a good scientific track record, including peer-reviewed publications;
  • an interest in transdisciplinary research;
  • proficiency in English and an interest in learning Dutch.

The position is within the Forest and Nature Conservation Policy Group in the Department of Environmental Sciences of Wageningen University, which provides research and academic education on our living environment. The chair group focuses on the role of political, socio-cultural and economic dimensions of forests and nature in an urban and non-urban context.Conditions of employmentWageningen University & Research offers excellent . Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3.345 ,- and € 5.278 for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10).
