Offer DescriptionIn close collaboration with M. Cissé’s team in Nantes and as part of the ANR MICROCONNECT programme, this project will address the question of a causal relationship between dysbiosis and amyloid pathology on the one hand, and Alzheimer’s disease symptoms and digestive comorbidity on the other, with the aim of identifying the bacterial mediators involved and deciphering their mechanisms of action. This project could pave the way for innovative treatments targeting the intestinal microbiota or downstream molecular partners.

• Supervise a research project
• Design and perform experiments, including experimentation on mouse models (gavage, i.p. injections, blood sampling, oral and fecal microbiota sampling), behavioral testing, post-mortem neuropathology assessment, development and implementation of new experimental paradigms
• Analyze multi-omics data generated by CROs and platforms and correlate them with biological data.
• Analyze results and ensure their validity.
• Present results in the form of reports, posters or seminars.
• Write and update technical protocols, guarantee their follow-up and quality, keep a rigorous laboratory notebook.
• Write publications
• Contribute to the scientific and technological monitoring of the field of activity and its dissemination within the team
• Ensure the supervision and training of students and engineers
• Participate in the team’s collective tasks

The Institute of Functional Genomics (IGF) is a multidisciplinary CNRS-INSERM-University of Montpellier Joint Research Unit whose research programmes cover the fields of neuroscience, physiology and cancer biology.
The IGF is home to around 350 people – researchers, teacher-researchers, engineers, technicians, postdoctoral students and students – working in 23 research teams, 8 technology platforms and research support services.
The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. S. Claeysen in the ‘Neuroproteomics and Signalling of Brain disorders’ team led by Philippe Marin. When he takes up his new post, the team will comprise 7 researchers, 1 clinician, 3 ITAs, 2 post-docs and 6 PhD students.

PhD in biology, neurobiology, microbiology or a related discipline.
Previous experience in animal experimentation is essential.
Experience in microbiota research would be highly appreciated.
Knowledge of immunology or neuroinflammation will be valuable.
A good understanding of bioinformatics and modelling models would be a plus.Character traits and work ethic:

Autonomy, organization and responsiveness in a fast-paced environment with a heavy workload.
