Job description

Offer DescriptionThe ‘Molecular Bases of Inflammation’ team is interested in studying the molecular mechanisms involved in triggering and resolving inflammatory responses. We are interested in defining cell type specific sensor pathways mediating responses towards cytosolic nucleic acids (dsDNA, ssDNA, RNA:DNA), with the objective of bettering our understanding of inflammatory responses in pathophysiological contexts (e.g. cancer, autoimmunity, viral infections).
The recruited candidate (M/F) will be responsible for studying the mechanisms governing cell type-specific inflammatory responses by combining genomics and proteomics approaches. He/She will use models of chronic inflammation or viral infection. He/she will use cutting-edge genetic manipulation tools to identify molecular mechanisms involved in inflammatory responses.
The candidate will be able to perform experiments both independently and with the support of other Team members, analyze and interpret the results and present them to various audiences.
Initial contract of 13 months, with the possibility of extension.Specific activities include conducting experiments, analyzing and interpreting data. Used approaches belong to the fields of:
– Cell biology (e.g. genetic manipulation, flow cytometry, microscopy, etc.)
– Molecular biology (e.g. transcriptomic approaches, cloning, etc.)
– Biochemistry (Western blots, pull-downs, immunoprecipitation, etc.)
The candidate will also be required to:
– Establish protocols and ensure that they are passed on to other team members
– Be able to work as part of a team and interact with bioinformaticians, platform operators and scientists
– Monitor scientific and technological developments in his/her field of activity.
The successful candidate will interact closely with the vast network of platforms available in the Montpellier community (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, imaging, etc).
The successful candidate will also be involved in the dissemination of project results. The ‘Molecular Bases of Inflammation’ team is part of the Institute of Molecular Genetics of Montpellier ( ), a CNRS/University of Montpellier basic research center located in the south of France. The IGMM is part of a major CNRS campus in Montpellier and benefits from close connections with other major research centers, notably dedicated to chemistry (IBMM, ICCG), cell biology (CRBM) and infectious diseases (IRIM), as well as access to 18 platforms ( ). The IGMM is also home to excellent in-house facilities that will facilitate the implementation of the project. The campus offers an exceptional environment for scientific exchanges. The ‘Molecular Bases of Inflammation’ team benefits from a close network of interdisciplinary collaborators, facilitating the implementation of original strategies.

Specific skills are expected in the field of multi-omics studies of cellular responses (RNAseq, ATACseq, ChIPseq, etc). Knowledge in data analysis would be a plus.
Knowledge of immunology or metabolomics would be appreciated but are not essential. Experience with models of inflammation, such as with models for cancer immunogenicity, auto-inflammation or viral infection (HIV, HSV, or similar), would sustain the candidate’s profile. Also, practical knowledge in cutting edge genetic manipulation (CRISPR KO/KI or similar) would be highly beneficial.
In addition, the candidate must be able to synthesize, write up and present his/her results in English. He/she must be able to work independently on his/her specific areas of research, but also to collaborate with other members of the team in order to integrate his/her results into physiopathological contexts.Website for additional job detailsWork Location(s)Number of offers available 1 Company/Institute Institut de génétique moléculaire de Montpellier Country France City MONTPELLIER GeofieldContact CityMONTPELLIER WebsiteSTATUS: EXPIREDShare this page
