Offer DescriptionDeep convection is at the heart of key processes for climate change through the climate feedbacks of the high clouds associated with it. This deep convection is organized in the form of storm systems which play a crucial role in the water and energy cycle on a global scale. The aim of this work is to exploit the outputs of a set of high-resolution simulations to improve our understanding of the functioning of organized deep convection.

• Recipe for object-oriented calculations carried out from simulations (RCEMIP, MCSMIP, etc.). This involves evaluating the distributions of morphological properties of convective systems and comparing them to satellite observations available in collaboration with the LEGOS EMC2 team.
• Analysis of the physical properties of simulated storms according to their life cycle and their morphology with emphasis on ice content and radiation and establishing the link with the dynamic and thermodynamic environment in which the systems evolve.

This work will be carried out at the LMD (Dynamic Meteorology Laboratory on the ENS campus in Paris. The recruited person will benefit from a rich national and international environment and will be required to interact with the engineers, researchers and doctoral students of the laboratory and will interact strongly with the LEGOS EMC2 team based in Toulouse and travel is expected.
