Offer DescriptionIRTA is currently seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in zoonotic diseases, placing emphasis on Immunology and virology to join the . The candidate will work in the project Understanding the epigenetic regulation to fight viral infections (EPIVINF) which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.We invite applications from ambitious candidates with relevant research experience and passion to conduct research and innovation activities mainly on SARS-CoV-2 and other highly pathogenic coronaviruses.Tasks and Responsibilities:
-Contribution to the high scientific and technological impact projects within the field of biosafety level 3 (BSL3) in collaboration with the group of zoonotic coronaviruses.
-To work with biological samples from animals infected with highly pathogenic viral agents for experimental purposes and to participate in necropsies and lab analysis. Studies will lead to pathogenic tests and assays mainly in mice or hamsters infected with SARS-CoV-2 and its variants.
-Execution of scientific and technical tasks and taking part in the planning and execution of the experiments to ensure the achievement of milestones of research projects and contracts.
-Supervision the technical personnel and students that will support the research project.
-To perform literature review, data collection and management, involving statistical analysis.
-To support positioning the Program as a group of excellence through regular peer-reviewed publications, contributions at national and international congresses.-Active contribution to fund rising through the preparation and submission of project proposals for public competitive calls and for contracts with the private sector, as well reporting process, such as writing progress and final reports of research activities.
-Contribution to the teamwork and team-spirit in the research line and in the Animal Health Program, fostering collaboration and integration activities.Required qualifications and experience:
-To hold a PhD in Health Science, specifically in Medicine, Veterinary and/or Animal Health, Immunology, Biomedical or Biotechnological sciences, with more than 1 year of postdoctoral experience.
-Knowledge on viral diseases and immunology.
-Proven experience in management of BSL3 biological agents and in the associated personal protective equipment.
-Proven experience in research skills: literature review, experimental design and implementation, data analysis, and scientific article writing.
-Dissemination skills: presentation/communication skills, and technical writing.
-Capacity to successfully develop collaborative research links with national and international research organizations.
