Job description

Offer DescriptionAbout IMol:The International Institute of Molecular Mechanisms and Machines (IMol) Polish Academy of Sciences, was constituted in December 2020, in partnership with the University Medical Center Göttingen, Germany and the University of Warsaw, Poland. IMol has been established to conduct scientific research and provide training in the fields of biological, chemical, medical, biotechnological, bioinformatics, biophysical, pharmacological, and similar sciences, in the international environment conducive to collaborative efforts, research and development interactions with the biotechnological industry, and wide dissemination of our results. We aim at the development of solutions that will help everyone on this planet live a safer life.About the job:Currently, IMol is seeking highly motivated candidates for the position of: 1Postdoc in Dr Maciej Cieśla groupOur group is interested in understanding how RNA metabolism is integrated during early steps of stem cell activation. We use different types of cellular and tissue systems as test tubes to understand the dynamics of functional coordination of the macromolecular machinery of the spliceosome. Collectively, we want to understand the regulation of splicing when stem cells decide their fate between self-renewal and differentiation. The key responsibility of the successful candidate will be to delineate dependencies in spliceosome composition-to-function upon exit from pluripotency of embryonic stem cells and to study the impact of differential splicing on a selection of differentiation trajectories during development. These goals will be achieved by applying state-of-the-art techniques available in the lab, including CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, high-throughput profiling of transcriptomes and translatomes, molecular biology assays, bioinformatic analysis, and primary cell cultures in vitro and in vivo. We particularly encourage applications from candidates with a computational biology background and/or strong track in cellular and molecular approaches. Prior expertise in stem cell biology, including development, will be considered a strong asset.More about the research group:More about the project:Profile of candidates/requirements:– PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields (obtained after 2020). Candidates with planned PhD defence in early 2025 are eligible to apply– Very well-structured knowledge in cell biology and biochemistry– Previous hands-on training in molecular biology, cell biology or biochemistry lab– A good command of English is essential– Previous experience with primary mammalian cell culture and computational analysis will be advantageous but is not obligatory– Interest in developing own lines of research– Good communication skills.Key responsibilities:– Planning and performing experiments– Keeping a record of experimental details– Data analysis, including bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, results interpretation and discussion– Presenting results at internal and external meetings/conferences– Preparing manuscripts for publication in scientific journals– Active participation in the research conducted in the lab.We offer:– Start date: March 2025 or later upon agreement– Full-time position for up to 5 years. Initial contract signed for 6 months– Salary of ca. 6.900 PLN net/month– Medical care package and social benefits– Flexible working hours– Collaborative and supportive work culture– Participation in an ambitious interdisciplinary project– Working with state-of-the-art research equipment– Opportunity to gain unique professional experience. How to apply:Please apply by filling in this form:You will be asked to attach the following documents – please combine them into 1 PDF document.Required documents (in English):– Motivation letter– CV– A list of publications and conferences attended– Contact details to a person who can provide references (preferably PhD supervisor).Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Biological sciences » Biology Education Level PhD or equivalentAdditional InformationWork Location(s)Number of offers available 1 Company/Institute IMol PAS Country Poland State/Province Mazowieckie City Warsaw Postal Code 02-247 Street Marcina Flisa 6 GeofieldContact State/Provincemazowieckie CityWarsaw WebsiteStreetFlisa 6 Postal Code02-247STATUS: EXPIREDShare this page
