• You do research on the deposition of ferro-electric inorganic thin films for applications in nanophotonics. You are responsible for upscaling the technology of thin film deposition to larger substrates, thereby maintaining the film quality. You perform part of the characterization of the materials and you work closely together with other researchers for more advanced characterization methods: measurements of the basic material parameters (XRD, AFM, SEM, …), electrical, optical and electro-optical characterization.
• You are responsible for certain equipment in the UGent cleanroom and you perform certain processes also for other researchers (UV lithography, material deposition, etching, etc.).
• You work with a valorisation mindset and you work together with other researchers towards a potential spin-off.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• You hold a thesis-based doctorate in engineering science (applied physics, electronics, photonics, chemistry) or sciences (physics, chemistry).
• You have experience in the deposition of thin films and their characterisation.
• You are interested in valorisation of research results. Experience or courses related to entrepreneurship is a plus.
• You can communicate well in English (both oral and written).

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

• We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 18 months.
• Your contract will start on 1/02/2025 at the earliest.
• Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate).
