• Implementing simulations of low-viscosity magmatic sheet intrusions in a two-dimensional Distinct Element Method (DEM) model as part of the new project „DAGGER” led by P.I. Dr. Sam Poppe.
• Parametrize the model with mechanical prosperties of host rocks representative for geological cases on Eart, and Mars.
• Mentoring of the PhD student in the project, Assistance in drafting the yearly project report.
• Joining a field campaign in Iceland is possible.

• Specialisation in volcanic processes is an asset
• Strong numerical skills (Python/Matlab/Jupyter, Notebooks)
• Demonstrated experience with scientific publications
• Experience with PFC (Itasca Consulting Group, Ins.) or similiar DEM software is an asset
• Good social skills
• Palatability for international teamwork
• Good proficiency in English
