Offer DescriptionWe are looking for a researcher for an international project entitled ‘Dignity For Irregular Migrants in EU Farm2Fork Labour Markets’ (DIGNITYFIRM). This is an international research project funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme (HORIZON Research and Innovation Actions, ‘HORIZON-CL2-2022-TRANSFORMATIONS-01-03: Research and Innovation Actions’). DIGNITYFIRM is implemented by a consortium of 10 institutions, including, in addition to the University of Warsaw: Radboud University in Nijmegen (Coordinator), European Policy Centre, Forum Internazionale Ed Europeo Di Ricerche Sull’immigrazione, Barcelona Centre for International Affairs, Bielefeld University, Coalizione Italiana Per Le Libertae I Diritti E Civili (Cild), Platform For International Cooperation On Undocumented Migrants Asbl, Ibn Zohr University in Agadir, and the NGO ‘Europe Without Barriers’. The project aims to improve the situation of migrants experiencing (multiple) irregularities in five selected European Union Member States (EUMS) and two associated countries (AC), promoting safe and healthy working conditions.The project team focuses on workers in the food supply chain, addressing their exclusion despite the important social contribution of their work. Through comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research and a contextual approach, we aim to understand both current and upcoming challenges. The findings will be used to develop tools and strategies to bridge the gap between policy aspirations and the difficult reality of migrant workers experiencing irregular status. The project will result in concrete proposals for solutions to ensure that migrant workers have access to rights and services, while promoting the well-being of host communities.Where to apply E-mailkonkursy.obm@uw.edu.plRequirementsResearch Field Sociology Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsThe competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws 2023, item 742, as amended).Other mandatory requirements:
– PhD in social sciences (sociology, political science, psychology) or outside the social sciences, as long as the curriculum included methodological preparation in qualitative research methods;
– very good qualitative skills and experience in conducting empirical qualitative analyses;
– excellent oral and written English language skills; fluency in Polish desirable;
– experience in participating in social science research projects;
– international research experience and plan for further research activities.Additional strengths:

Selection processObligatory documents:
1) CV detailing the candidate’s educational background, experience, key publications, past activities and achievements (e.g. conference appearances, courses taken, awards), data analysis skills (e.g. knowledge of software to support qualitative research), link to Google Scholar profile.
2) a motivation letter presenting the candidate’s profile in accordance with the requirements contained in the advertisement and the motivation for applying for the offered position,
3) a sample of academic work in English (e.g. journal article, dissertation),
4) a list of three names that could be consulted as
references (letters of reference are not required),
5) a signed and completed for an applicant for employment
6) a scan of a signed declaration of consent to the processing of personal data, attached to this announcement
7) a signed : “I declare that I have read and accepted the rules of conducting competitions for the position of academic teacher at the University of Warsaw, as specified in the Order No. 106 of the Rector of the University of Warsaw of September 27, 2019.”The competition is the first stage of the recruitment procedure for the position of an academic teacher, as specified in the Statute of the University of Warsaw, and its positive outcome is the basis for further proceedings. Selected applicants will be invited to a scheduled interview. All candidates will be informed about the results via email. The expected date of the results announcement is 17 February 2025.
