Offer DescriptionAbout TELMAAt the most vibrant city of Spain, the Telecommunications Research Institute (TELMA) at University of Malaga is looking for a highly motivated and outstanding researcher in the area of signal processing for massive MIMO, within the group led by Prof. Mari Carmen Aguayo-Torres.The ComSP lab at TELMA carries out interdisciplinary research in wireless communications, including satellite networks, AI-empowered 5G/6G, and signal processing, often in collaboration with governmental, industrial and international partners. ComSP is active in several national projects funded by the Spanish ministry and local industries, and international research projects funded by the EC and the European Space Agency (ESA). Within the signal processing activities, ComSP is currently collaborating with international partners in the Joint Communications and Sensing (JCS) field.Your RoleAs a post-doc, you are asked to lead research in the area of signal processing for communications with particular focus on the design and simulation of joint communications and sensing (JCS) systems. Specifically, the successful candidate is expected to:
- Perform research on signal processing for JCS including, but not limited to:
- Design range and velocity estimators (parametric and Bayesian) for JCS applications
- Obtain analytic assessment or bounds of JCS scenarios
- Implement simulators to evaluate the performance of the designed methods and state-of-the-art and ones
- Contribute to related research projects with technical contributions and/or preparation of project deliverables
- Publish research findings in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and present at relevant conferences
- Eventually, help in the supervision of PhD students
- Contribute to the development of research proposals for attracting funding through industrial, national, and European projects on the topic
We offer a full-time temporary position of 1.5 years. The candidate is expected to join at the earliest possible date.Your Profile
- You are a motivated researcher with a PhD degree in Telecommunication Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science/engineering with a focus on signal processing and physical layer implementations
- You have a good understanding of OFDM and 5G physical layer
- You are proficient in programming languages such as MATLAB and/or Python
- You are experienced in modeling complex communication systems and demonstrators
- Experience of working with industrial or publicly funded research projects is highly desirable
- Highly committed, excellent team-worker, and strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
