Job description

We are seeking a motivated and committed (post)doctoral research associate/ assistant to join our project voices that matter: ‘Teacher and pupil feedback for CPD development’.The project is led by Victorina Gonzalez-Diaz (English Department, University of Liverpool) and Elizabeth Parr (School of Education, Liverpool John Moores University). Funded by School Improvement Liverpool (SIL) and the Participatory Research Fund (Liverpool), the project will scale-up our ‘Good’ writing, gender and `the gap’ pilot project (2023), which developed a 4-month school intervention for primary schools in the Merseyside area. The intervention was based on a selection of the findings from our 2022 policy briefing and focused on conceptualisations of `good’ writing, perceptions of `gendered’ school writing and feedback practices. The new, 2025 scaled-up version of the original project will work with 10 local schools (20 year-5 teachers) and their pupils (c500 children).The (PD)RA will be hired for the 6 months (February-July 2025) and is expected to work a maximum of 360 hours (e.g. an average of 15 hours/week for 24 weeks – but please note that this may vary depending on the project’s needs, i.e. some weeks may require more hours of work and some others, less).

Most of the work and work meetings can be done on-line and via Zoom, but the PDRA is expected to be able to join the lead researchers when collecting post-intervention data from children in partner schools.If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30.
