  • In the framework of a World-Antidoping Agency (WADA) project, a postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated scientist at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Peter Van Eenoo and Prof. Dr. Marthe De Boevre, offering a unique chance to contribute to cutting-edge research in anti-doping science:
  • The successful candidate will engage in the following tasks:
  • Plan and conduct human intervention trials to study the toxicokinetics of mycotoxins in human subjects, adhering to the highest ethical and safety standards.
  • Develop and optimize advanced analytical methods (i.e. GC-MS/MS and GC-HRMS) to achieve ultra-trace level detection of mycotoxins and their metabolites in biological samples.
  • Examine and interpret metabolic excretion profiles of mycotoxins, focusing on reductive metabolites and phase II conjugates, to identify markers that differentiate doping intake from dietary exposure.
  • Build and apply Hierarchical Bayesian toxicokinetic models to derive population-level pharmacokinetic parameters and estimate intake doses based on collected data.
  • Support the refinement of WADA’s anti-doping guidelines by delivering evidence-based criteria for identifying adverse analytical findings in urine and capillary blood samples.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to analyze results and provide expert insights for the legal adjudication of doping cases.
  • Disseminate research findings through detailed reports, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations at international scientific conferences.
  • We seek a highly motivated scientist with a strong background in analytical chemistry, pharmacokinetics, or a related discipline to join our team and contribute to this impactful research endeavor.
