Job title:

Postdoctoral Position in Biomolecular adaptation in deep eutectic solvents

Company:

Job description

Offer DescriptionDr. Adrian Sanchez-Fernandez and Prof. Javier Montenegro are seeking for a Postdoctoral associatewith strong background in physical chemistry or chemical biology for the study of the behaviour andfunction of biomolecules in deep eutectic solvents (DESs) as conceptually novel designed biomaterials. This is an excellent opportunity to join the Montenegro Lab, a group of enthusiastic scientists involvedin cutting-edge multidisciplinary research activities.DESCRIPTIONDESs have emerged as promising environments for the anhydrous stabilisation of biomolecules, particularly proteins. Now, we are exploring the ability of DESs with designed composition to controlprotein behaviour and, ultimately, function. Currently, we are advancing towards the development ofa rational platform for directing protein response to the incorporation in DESs.The selected candidate will be involved in the study of a variety of biomolecules in compositionallydesigned deep eutectic solvents with the possibility of gradually implementing his/her own ideas anddirections. The studies will be focused on the characterisation of proteins using spectroscopy methods(e.g., circular dichroism, fluorescence emission, FTIR, UV-vis) and their function using activity assays. Inaddition, other methods (e.g., scattering) can be implemented to complement in-housecharacterisation.REQUIREMENTSWe seek motivated candidates with initiative, creativity, and team-working abilities holding a PhD inChemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. Experience in biophysical characterisation and/orsupramolecular chemistry will be highly considered. Good communication skills and proficiency inwritten and spoken English are essential.REFERENCES· Stabilization of Non-Native Folds and Programmable Protein Gelation in Compositionally DesignedDeep Eutectic Solvents.
