POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN BIOCHEMISTRY M/F

Company:

Job description

Offer DescriptionThe BioCatalysis team of the Laboratory of Chemistry and Biology of Metals (LCBM) at CEA Grenoble is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the role and localization of a flavin (FAD) cofactor within a multiprotein complex involved in the biogenesis of iron-sulfur (Fe-S) clusters, essential cofactors in biology. The study will focus on characterizing protein complexes from various organisms (bacteria, plants) using biochemical, biophysical, and spectroscopic techniques. The candidate will also prepare high-quality samples for structural studies conducted by collaborators. This work is part of a project funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR).he project will involve multidisciplinary approaches, including Biochemistry (Protein expression and purification, enzymology, metal quantification, FAD quantification); Biophysics (Techniques such as MALS-RI, EPR spectroscopy, UV-visible and Mössbauer spectroscopy, and Electrochemistry); Molecular Biology (Construction of protein variants). The candidate will collaborate with structural biologists and plant specialists to investigate the role of the FAD cofactor in Fe-S cluster biogenesis. Regular presentations of the work will be expected during team seminars and ANR project meetings.-The Laboratory of Chemistry and Biology of Metals (LCBM) is a joint research unit (CEA-CNRS-University Grenoble Alpes) at the interface of chemistry and biology. It focuses on the study of the structure, activity, and regulation of complex biological systems involving metal ions. The lab consists of eight teams, and this position is within the BioCatalysis team, which specializes in the maturation and activity of metalloproteins. The candidate will be supervised by Dr. Sandrine Ollagnier de Choudens (CNRS Research Director). The LCBM is located at the CEA Grenoble site.Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Chemistry Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Biological sciences Education Level PhD or equivalentResearch Field Pharmacological sciences Education Level PhD or equivalentLanguages FRENCH Level BasicResearch Field Chemistry Years of Research Experience 1 – 4Research Field Biological sciences Years of Research Experience 1 – 4Research Field Pharmacological sciences Years of Research Experience 1 – 4Additional InformationEligibility criteriaThe ideal candidate should: Hold a recent PhD in biochemistry with solid knowledge of biological cofactors; Have a strong interest in metalloproteins and bioinorganic chemistry; Possess experience in protein expression, purification, and enzymatic activity assays; Demonstrate autonomy and proficiency in English communication (both written and spoken); Be comfortable presenting their work regularly within the team and to collaborators.
