Job descriptionProject descriptionDo you want to contribute to the development of water electrolysis technology and in this way accelerate the implementation of green hydrogen? Then this project could be for you. The main goal of the project is to develop electrocatalytic materials that have a high performance, good durability, a simple production process and affordable raw materials. You will develop promising catalytic materials (preferably via electrodeposition methods) for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions in alkaline media. The key challenge is understanding what materials will lead to materials with high activity and prolonged stability under industrial-relevant conditions. You will use in situ and operando spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, DEMS) to establish structure-activity relationships of the prepared materials. The findings from this project will contribute to developing new and more active catalysts that can operate at industrially relevant conditions, improving the efficiency of green hydrogen production.The research is carried out in collaboration with a company developing alkaline water electrolyzers. In the project you will also closely work with another postdoc that will work on flow cell measurements in real industrial conditions (30 wt% KOH, 80 °C) of the developed electrocatalytic materials .Research groupThe work will be carried out in the Electrocatalytic synthesis and electrochemical interfaces group at TU/e lead by professor Marta Costa Figueiredo. The research work in the group is devoted to electrocatalysis and electro(catalytic)synthesis for sustainable processes and production of high value chemicals like fuels and organic molecules from “waste” substrates as for example, carbon dioxide and biomass. The main aim is to understand, develop and optimize electrochemical reactions under practical relevant conditions in order to give a step further on the usage of electrochemistry at industrial scale.Job requirementsWe are looking for a talented, motivated and enthusiastic
A Postdoc with a background in electrochemistry and/or electrocatalysis.
We’re searching for an excellent candidate with proven capabilities that likes working with demanding laboratory setups and enjoys supervising BSc and MSc students.
Knowledge, experience and affinity with chemical reactor engineering and electrochemistry are highly appreciated.
