Postdoc position (M/F): structural regulation of regenerating jellyfish

Company:

Job description

Offer DescriptionWe are looking for a highly motivated post-doc to join our “Cnidarian Regeneration, Development and Evolution” research team at the Integrative Biology of Marine Organisms centre (Banyuls-sur-Mer, France). The Cnidevo team studies how organismal shapes emerge in regeneration and development, focusing on jellyfish models.
The postdoctoral project is part of a collaborative HFSP grant (led by C. Sinigaglia), focused on how the extracellular matrix (ECM) of the model jellyfish Clytia hemisphaerica regulates the regeneration process.
Further information about our research can be found at .The project aims at reconstructing the jellyfish ECM material properties, how they change during the regeneration process and at functionally identifying the ECM role in repair. The postdoctoral researcher will combine proteomic analyses, measurement of the mechanical properties of the ECM and functional perturbations. In order to unravel the complexity of ECM/epithelia interactions, the HFSP project develops a multidisciplinary platform where in vivo research is coupled to mechanical models (C. Modes lab, Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, Dresden, Germany) and to the development of a synthetic analogue of the jellyfish ECM (U. Shimanovich lab, Weizmann Institute, Israël).The team is located at the Oceanographic Observatory of Banyuls-sur-Mer, which is affiliated to Sorbonne Université and CNRS. Working language is English. Regular interactions online and in-person with the HFSP partner teams are planned.
