Job description

Offer DescriptionThe ICB Laboratory in Dijon, France, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to study new control methods regarding micro-photonics waveguide arrays.Building upon the analogy between the temporal evolution of a quantum system and the propagation of light in a network of coupled waveguides, we have developed a new paradigm for controlling micro-photonics systems based on the transition between optical states. We have particularly identified a specific architecture with potential applications in substance detection in biology, frequency comb generation, and quantum optics. In this context, your role will be to conduct an in-depth study on the potential of this new architecture and compare it with the current state-of-the-art. You will be able to rely on the initial theoretical models and simulation tools already established within the laboratory. This study will allow you to define optimal design parameters. The fabrication of the corresponding nanostructures will be carried out by our nano-fabrication center, ARCEN, hosted within the university. Finally, you will be responsible for the preliminary characterization of the obtained samples, with the aim of validating the chosen model and approach.
This position is part of the national project funded by the ANR NAC-NIP, which encompasses both fundamental and theoretical aspects, as well as more practical experimental demonstrations. Therefore, the ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about engaging in both aspects of the project. The SAFIR team specializes in the exploration of nonlinear propagation phenomena in fiber optics ( ). Collaborating with the small clean room facility ARCEN housed at the ICB, SAFIR has expanded its focus to include the investigation of nonlinear phenomena in micro-photonics.Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Physics Education Level PhD or equivalentLanguages FRENCH Level BasicResearch Field Physics Years of Research Experience 4 – 10Additional InformationEligibility criteriaYou possess a Ph.D. with specialization in nonlinear optics and demonstrate proficiency in prevalent scientific programming languages such as Matlab and Python. Additionally, you boast a solid foundation in guided wave-propagation. While prior experience in experimental characterization of integrated photonics devices is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite.Additional commentsThis contract is funded in the frame of the ANR support project NAC-NIP (contract no.
