Offer DescriptionThe Research Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety of the University of Barcelona (Spain), accredited with the “María de Maeztu” excellence award
(CEX2021-001234-M, funded by MCIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033), launches its Postdoctoral Program aiming at hiring one excellent researcher
who wish to carry out a 2-year stay/postdoctoral research project working in some of the Institute’s research lines within the area “FOOD INNOVATION
AND SUSTAINABILITY”.
This call aims to offer an excellent postdoctoral training program to young researchers of any nationality, attract talent and contribute to the training
of the new generation of scientific leaders. Candidates must be researchers with excellent and outstanding experience and contributions in their
scientific discipline.
Applicants must choose one specific research line offered by INSA-UB within the area “FOOD INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY”, when submitting

• The call for applications is intended for researchers who finished their doctoral degree up to eight years prior to the application deadline.

• The call is open to candidates of any nationality.

• In case of interruption of the research activity between the date PhD degree and the application deadline, the period in which the doctoral degree must have been obtained may be extended beyond eight years for the following reasons:

o Illness or accident resulting in a leave of absence of three months or more. An extension may be granted for the number of months duly justified.
o Maternity/Paternity. An extension of 1 year may be granted for each child born after the date of the PhD defense. If the candidate can justify longer
maternity/paternity leave, the eligibility period will be extended accordingly.
o Mandatory national service: an extension can be requested for the number of months demonstrated.

Research Assessment (SFDORA; ), by which it discourages evaluators to rely only on journal- based metrics (such as Journal Impact Factors) as a surrogate measure for the quality of individual research articles. For the purposes of research assessment, INSA-UB considers the value of all research outputs, including qualitative indicators of research impact.

Selection processINSA-UB will form an internal evaluation committee, consisting of various relevant members of the unit. These referential researchers will evaluate the CVs and the corresponding documentation of the applicants for the postdoc positions. All members must be free of conflict of interest and have absolutely no relationship with the applicant. The establishment of a randomized and conflict-free internal tribunal for evaluating postdoctoral researcher positions ensures fairness and impartiality in the selection process. By eliminating potential biases and conflicts of interest, the system fosters trust in academic decisions.
