Offer DescriptionThe System Chemistry Group at IMDEA Nanociencia is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join our team. This position is part of a European project aimed at obtain dissipative supramolecular polymer bundles by activating/deactivating monomers. This project will serve as an integrative platform to bring together so far disjoint concepts in Supramolecular Systems Chemistry and Swarm Robotics, to bring us closer to biological-like functions in fully artificial chemical systems.Main responsibilities of the candidate will include:

• Perform microfluidic experiments to quantify the dynamics of single fibers consisting of supramolecular polymers
• Use fast X-Ray super-resolution microscopy techniques
• Characterization of supramolecular polymers using techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (MS) couple with liquid or gas chromatography (LC-MS, and GC-MS), infrared spectrometry (IR), and elemental analysis (EA) and super-resolution imaging techniques.
• Lab-scale prototyping
• Supervise PhD and MSc students.
• Work closely with the principal investigator and team members to maintain a high level of scientific productivity.
• Prepare, present, and report research results and publish scientific results in key peer-reviewed journals in due time.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• PhD Degree in Chemical engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or related fields.
• Solid background in light-driven systems
• Hands-on experience in lab-scale prototyping.
• A committed team player.
• A highly motivated and autonomous person dedicated to conducting high-quality research.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
