Postdoc in thermodynamics of phase transitions in Li- and Na-ion batteries
Aarhus Universitet
The Ravnsbæk Groups at the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University, is seeking a candidate for a 32 months fulltime postdoctoral position. The position is available from the 1st of August 2024, or as soon as possible hereafter.Job descriptionYou will join the project CoolIon, which concerns a novel approach using active electrode materials for cooling batteries during charge and discharge through tuning of thermodynamics.Within the project you will perform simple synthesis of electrode materials, fabricate coin cell Li- and Na-ion batteries, utilize electrochemical methods, perform standard and state-of-the-art operando calorimetry for thermodynamic characterization and use operando X-ray diffraction for structural characterization. Most of the work will be performed at the laboratories at Aarhus University, but the project also includes 2-3 months at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology for calorimetry experiments.Besides the experimental and analytical work, you will also be expected to present your work at conferences and write scientific papers for publication of the results in scientific journals.Your profile
Who we are/ The DepartmentThe Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University (www.chem.au.dk) is one of the leading European chemistry departments with a broad research programs. It has a permanent staff of ~35 full and associate professors, a support-staff of ~30 people, ~150 PhD-students and postdocs and around 400 students. The Ravnsbæk Group consists of ca. 15 postdoctoral, PhD and master students, who are working on different aspects of battery science. The group is led by Prof. Dorthe Ravnsbæk. The group resides in laboratories fully equipped for inorganic synthesis, structural characterization (XRD, PDF, SEM, TEM, etc.), chemical analysis and physical property characterization, hereunder several calorimeters.Working in Denmark offers opportunities for a good work-life balance.
