Job Description:Are you interested in contributing to the development of a new way to produce fruit-based food by energy efficient and environmentally friendly raw materials processing in laboratory and pilot scale?We offer you a unique opportunity to join DTU’s Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (DTU Chemical Engineering) where we work in close collaboration with the company Good Food Group ( ) to develop a novel integrated process, that rethinks the pectin-jam value chain towards energy efficiency and improved nutritional value as well as product quality.You will be based at DTU Chemical Engineering, at the Pilot Plant research group in a dynamic international research environment. The work is part of a project consortium funded by GUDP (Green Development and Demonstration Program). The primary purpose of the project is to develop the process to the stage of a working prototype at industrial scale.Responsibilities and Tasks
You will:

  • Plan and perform experiments in laboratory and pilot scale.
  • Use Design of Experiments (DOE) tools focusing on the pectin process and looking into all relevant parameters impacting the pectin separation process and functionality.
  • Analyze samples for color, oxidation, homogeneity, gel formation, pH, taste etc.
  • Compose project reports and drafting manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed scientific journals and conferences.
  • Supervise BEng/BSc/MSc students and train them in sample preparation, protocols and use of equipment.
  • Communicate results of the project to both academic and industrial partners.

Qualifications
We are looking for an experienced postdoctoral researcher with hands-on laboratory experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Food technology.As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).We value that you:

Our large Pilot Plant resides in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at DTU. It is a cross-functional matrix organization serving its approx. 300 employees and many students. Besides education and research, we support technology and process development within the industry and academic world. We consider us to be a world class chemical, biochemical and pharmaceutical pilot plant with more than 700 m2 pilot hall area and a 500 m2 expansion project in progress. The existing facility collects more than 30 industrial scale pilot plant set-ups representing all chemical and biochemical unit operations and is supported by our associated laboratories and our skilled workshop.Salary and terms of employment
