Job description

Job Description:We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow for a 3-year postdoc position, to join the group of Associate Professor Kedar Natarajan from the 1 October 2024 or as soon as possible. Our research
Our group investigates mechanisms underlying cell-fate decisions in stem cells (ES/iPS) and during differentiation to cell types of the central nervous system (CNS). To achieve this, we use patient-derived and disease specific hiPSC and their differentiation to neurons, microglia and model neurodevelopmental trajectories through single-cell profiling including single-cell transcriptomics, ATAC-seq, multi-omics and spatial transcriptomics. We also develop and leverage computational approaches for identifying gene regulatory networks and candidate perturbation to study systems levels changes and specific underlying mechanisms. In this new project, we aim to develop and study neuron-glial interactions in co-cultures, coupled with single-cell multi-modal assays to characterize gene regulatory networks. We will focus on investigating targets including CRISPR perturbations to study target roles in neuron-glial interaction, cell type differentiation and responses. The group is highly collaborative and interdisciplinary, and is part of PSBT section at DTU Bioengineering. The candidate will interact with with other groups at DTU Bioengineering, Health Technology and international partners. More details can be found at group page ( )Project description
The successful candidate is expected to work on a project involving implementation of patient- and disease-specific ES/iPS derived co-culture systems for neural-glial interactions, single-cell profiling and CRISPR based candidate perturbation, to understand global systems level changes as well as specific targets and mechanisms. The project is highly interdisciplinary and will include primarily experimental work (i.e., ES/iPS culture and differentiation to neurons and glial cells (microglia) and co-culture systems, assessment and monitoring of culture with single-cell profiling, gene editing and working with bioinformaticians on data analysis. Interest and prior computational experience is welcome and would be useful to the project. As a part of a multidisciplinary team and research environment, a collaborative mindset and proven ability to work in teams and communicate scientific research through presentations and submitted manuscripts is expected. The candidate is expected to perform this independent project with high degree of autonomy in planning and design, and also work positively with other team members towards a collaborative environment. In this specific project, you will be working closely with 3 other members (PhD and postdocs) and supported by computational PhD student. Candidates with strong academic track record, publications and positive references are valued. If you are highly driven, you will have opportunities to write grants for further strengthening research opportunities and participate in the broader collaborations.Profile
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic researcher with following competences:Essential experience and skills:

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Developmental/stem cell biology, Biotechnology, or a comparable field
  • Proficiency in hES/iPS cultures, differentiation to neuronal and glial cells and cell type characterisation (Imaging, Mol. Bio, functional assays).
  • Track record/publications in neuroscience research
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Prior experience with genome editing
  • Prior experience with single-cell transcriptomics (experimental or computational analysis)

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). You will be primarily based at DTU Bioengineering, and interact locally with other bioinformatics colleagues and groups at Bioengineering and DTU Health Technology, as well as our national, international partners.Assessment
The assessment of the applicants will be made by Associate Professor Kedar Natarajan together with relevant project partners. We offer
