Job description

Job Description:We are seeking a motivated Post-Doctoral Researcher to develop atomistic and electromagnetic simulations to design a novel quantum optical biosensor for the clinical rapid detection of blood phenotypes. Check our website .About the Project
You will drive the theoretical development of a recently funded project from the Novo Nordisk Foundation entitled “Quantum-enriched Raman spectroscopy for precise and rapid biomedical diagnostics”. You will leverage the strong coupling between light in infrared optical cavities and biorelevant molecules to manipulate spectroscopic Raman signatures needed for the efficient identification of blood traits. You will develop the theoretical tools to simulate realistic by combining state-of-the-art atomistic methods with the numerical solution for electromagnetic fields in optical cavities. As a Postdoc at DTU, you will:

  • Design and develop advanced atomistic simulation methodologies coupled to electromagnetic calculations for studying interacting light-matter systems.
  • Collaborate closely with experimentalists within Raman spectroscopy and clinical detection of blood phenotypes.
  • Collaborate internationally with leading researchers in light-matter interaction and ab-initio simulations

This position provides an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of interdisciplinary research, combining theory and computational techniques to make an impact in the future of quantum technologies. What we are looking for:

  • Have excellent publications record.
  • Be motivated, dedicated, and capable of working collaboratively within a team.
  • Possess experience in theoretical physics, especially in ab initio simulations for molecules and/or materials.
  • Experience with ab-initio calculations of Raman spectra is a big plus
  • Be proficient in scientific programming (preferably Python and Fortran) and comfortable working with scientific software.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills (in English) and the ability to present and discuss scientific ideas effectively.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Materials Science, Optics or equivalent.Who you will be working with
You will be working at the department of physics at DTU with Assistant Professor Simone Latini and Associate Professor Søren Raza within the 2DPHYS section (for more info on the section visit the website You will also benefit from the tight connections to the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg, Germany and you will be able to participate in the activities of a newly funded European network – SPARKLE – focused on polaritonics for quantum technologies. You can read more about SPARKLE .We offer
