Ku – Sund – Panum Kbh N
Job description
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoc with expertise in chromatin biology to develop new epigenetic approaches for cancer treatment. This is a 3-year position with start 15 November 2024, or after agreement. The successful candidate will work at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) in the Chromatin Replication and Epigenome Maintenance research group headed by Prof. Anja Groth.More information on the CPR can be found at:Our research
The focus of the Groth group is to elucidate how chromatin organization and function is propagated during mitotic cell division to maintain genome and epigenome stability. Our goal is to understand mechanisms that underpin chromatin replication and epigenetic cell memory, and how they impact on cell fate decisions in development and disease. We apply innovative proteomic and genomic approaches in combination with stem cell biology, high-content imaging, chromatin biochemistry and structure-function studies. Our group is diverse and multidisciplinary with many scientific collaborations nationally and internationally, and we have an inclusive and highly collaborative work culture. We value idea sharing and use Creative Problem Solving tools to develop our research projects. We also have a translational focus connected to our spin-out company Ankrin Therapeutics. The Groth Group is part of the Protein Memory Program at NNF CPR, a multidisciplinary and international research center with a highly collaborative research environment and cutting-edge core facilities, such as genomics, proteomics, protein imaging, protein production and characterization, big data management platforms. In 2025 the Groth group plans to move to the Danish Cancer Institute (DCI), a part of Danish Cancer Society, and a leading international cancer research institute with topnotch laboratory and computational facilities.Your job
You will be part of our efforts to translate our research in epigenetics into innovative treatment strategies together with our clinical collaborators. Building on our expertise in chromatin replication, the project will develop rationale for novel epigenetic approaches for cancer treatment. You will use genome-editing approaches along with state-of-the-art genomics to address how modulation of chromatin assembly impacts epigenetic landscapes and genome function in relevant cancer models. You will be part of a highly collaborative group and we expect that you will contribute to our other ongoing projects and supervision of students.Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:
- A PhD in Life science, biochemistry, molecular cell biology, cancer biology or related
- Background in epigenetics and cancer biology.
