The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Postdoc in the field of adipose tissue biology as per 1 of September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term full-time position for 18 months.The Department of Biomedicine prioritises diversity and a good work environment, as this is a prerequisite for groundbreaking research. You can read more about the department and about the faculty .About the research project Obesity is a critical risk factor for developing a variety of diseases including type-2-diabetes. The research centers around understanding the mechanisms that determines how much fat that accumulates in an adipose tissue with special focus on identifying novel adipose tissue proteins that regulates the synthesis of triglyceride. This includes investigations of proteins involved in controlling glycerol availability in adipose tissue as wells as the role of proteins expressed in the adipose tissue vasculature. The studies are conducted using a variety of different techniques including isolation of endothelial cells using FACS sorting, immunohistochemistry, imaging, immunoblotting and Q-PCR. The applied models range from human adipose tissue samples, cell-culture models to animal models.Your job responsibilities As Postdoc in adipose tissue biology your position is primarily research-based but may also involve teaching assignments. You will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with colleagues on your project, where you will receive supervision and guidance.Your main tasks will consist of:

• Independent research of high international quality, including publication.
• Some degree of contribution towards attracting external research funding.
• Writing/contributing to manuscripts
• Guidance and training of Bachelor-, Master- and PhD students.

You will report to the Associate Professor Janne Lebeck.Your competences You have academic qualifications at PhD level, for example within the following areas cell biology, biochemistry, physiology, or molecular biology and have an interest in the molecular mechanisms behind the development of obesity and insulin resistance. You should have prior documented experience with animal studies. Applicants with experience with fluorescence activated cell sorting and preparation of samples for proteomics will be preferred. Previous experience with grant applications is also recognized as an advantage.
