Post PHD position-MULTIMOC Project-Design and implementation of a fully fibered spatial light modulator component, application to free-space optical communications

Job description

Offer DescriptionThe postdoctoral researcher will work within the framework of the MULTIMOC project funded by the ANR ASTRID. The aim is to develop a fully fibered component at a laser end, which will integrate both the functionality of emitting a controlled multimodal beam profile and that of a wavefront analyzer. This is a photonic lantern with a novel structure, acting as a multifunctional all-fibered spatial light modulator. In this project, the component is intended for free-space optical telecommunications, to reduce the impact of atmospheric turbulence encountered by the signal. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, and characterizing the photonic lantern. Initially, she or he will model and optimize its opto-geometric characteristics using the finite element method and BPM (Beam Propagation Method). Afterwards, she or he will participate in the fabrication of the component, using a fiber splicer with CO2 laser. Finally, she or he will experimentally characterize the various functionalities of this all-fibered spatial modulator and will integrate it into an optical link prototype. These experimental data will feed the neural network model of the component, which will be developed by other members of the project team.
The postdoctoral researcher will be required to provide regular written and oral reports within the framework of the project.Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Physics » Other Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsPhD in physics/optics
