Job description

Offer DescriptionThe post-doctoral mission will be to characterize turbulent flows behing inhomogeneous grids to reproduce them in simulations (CFD: RANS/URANS/LES) and to evaluate its impacts on an airfoil section.Experiments as well as simulations (RANS/LES) will be performed together to improve the already started wind tunnel digital twin, increasing the inflow complexity. The Research Laboratory in Hydrodynamics, Energetics and Atmospheric Environment at Centrale Nantes is a CNRS mixed research unit (UMR 6598).The LHEEA is tasked with both advancing theoretical knowledge and resolving concrete problems around four scientific themes:
free-surface hydrodynamics,
fluidstructure interactions,
dynamics of the atmosphere and systems approach for ground
marine propulsion systems. The goal is to respond to major societal and technological issues:
Performance of Marine Renewable Energies(MRE) systems (offshore wind, floating offshore wind turbines, tidal, wave energy…)
Safety of both people and equipment involved in marine activities
Reduction of polluting emissions associated with ground and maritime transport
Quality of the urban atmosphereThe post-doctorant will be hired by CNRS and will work at LHEEA laboratory, located at Ecole Centrale Nantes (1 rue de la Noë, 44321 Nantes).Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Physics Education Level PhD or equivalentLanguages FRENCH Level BasicResearch Field Physics Years of Research Experience 1 – 4Additional InformationEligibility criteriaThe candidate must hold a PhD in Fluid Mechanics. We are seeking a highly skilled post-doctorant with expertise in both experimental and numerical analysis of turbulence and airfoil aerodynamics.
The ideal candidate should have extensive hands-on experience with experimental techniques, such hot-wire anemometry, load cell measurements, and pressure measurements, as well as proficiency in characterising flows generated behing inhomogeneous grids. Having experience in PIV measurement will be appreciated. On the numerical side, a strong knowledge of RANS/URANS with various turbulence models and DDES is required. Additionally, experience in the theoretical analysis of turbulence would be considered a valuable asset, complementing the practical and computational aspects of this role. A fluent knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is required.Website for additional job detailsWork Location(s)Number of offers available 1 Company/Institute Laboratoire de recherche en hydrodynamique, énergétique et environnement atmosphérique Country France City NANTES GeofieldContact CityNANTES WebsiteSTATUS: EXPIREDShare this page
