Job Description:ABOUT THE ROLEThe Johnson Laboratory in the Department of Applied Sciences, Translational Bioscience, at Northumbria University is seeking two Postdoctoral Research Fellows to study the mechanisms underlying immune activation and disease progression in genetic mitochondrial disorders. Expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology, as well as general biology (cell, molecular, pathology) is an essential requirement of this position, a background in mitochondrial disease and/or immunology is preferred. Experience with animal medicine is critical, and experience with cell culture is preferred. Ideal candidates should be motivated, organised, and able to work independently. The selected candidates will contribute to setting project goals, designing experiments, generating and analysing data, preparing manuscripts, and preparing and submitting funding applications. The candidates will assume a leadership role in managing junior lab members in general laboratory tasks (DNA extraction, genotyping, mouse colony maintenance), perform ordering/procurement duties, and help keep the lab organized and running smoothly. They will collaborate with others within the Johnson laboratory as well as with colleagues at Northumbria University, Newcastle University, and beyond.
